This chapter deals
with combinations indicating successful legal career. Generally, astrologers
are of the opinion that the 2nd house must be strong for lawyers.
The 2nd deals with speech and expression of points of view. However,
this sounds unconvincing since many professions need clear speech. For example,
legislators, actors, salesmen etc. As such, mere disposition of the 2nd
house and its lord in strength is no passport to successful legal career.
However, classical
work have given the portfolio of legal profession to Mercury and judge’s post
to Jupiter. Irrespective of other factors, a good disposition of financial
factors and a strong disposition of Mercury can give one a prosperous legal
career.

profession, we have two major divisions, viz., civil and criminal suits. For
civil suits, Mercury must be strong preferably associated with Jupiter or
related to him. Mars-Mercury association produces eminent criminal lawyers.
Mars-Venus-Mercury produces romantic lawyers.
Let us have
analyse a few charts. For one to have elevation to the Bench, a strong
disposition of the 10th house, its lord and Jupiter is necessary.

This is the horoscope of a young lawyer, aged about
36 years. He has been in the profession for the last 10 years and still
continues to struggle. He is determinedly fighting against heavy odds.
Before we actually
analyse the legal aspect, we shall briefly see the 10th house
factors. Here the 10th lord, Venus, is in the 12th house
and the 1st bhava. The conclusion is success after much struggles.
The 10th house is aspected by Jupiter, lord of the 5th and
the 8th. But the aspect is very feeble as the orb of balance
distance is more than 20 degree. From the Moon, the 10th lord is
considerably fortified as he is conjunct Venus, Mercury and Jupiter, who form a
powerful Adhi Yoga and the results will be felt during the periods of
Kethu-Venus. As such, the professional status will be built up considerably.
