4.6 Sarvashtak and Samudaya ashtak Varga

4.6.1 Sarvashtak varga (or SAV) is a consolidated chart showing the total number of dots of the seven Bhinnashtak vargas for each of the 12 signs. For example the dots in Aries in the seven Bhinnashtaks (before any reduction) will be summed up and put in the sign of Aries of Sarvashtak varga and so on. In case of the native of chart No. 3, the total number of dots for various signs in Prashtarak/ Sarvastak varga (including planets therein) will be as shown in the following chart:

Sarvashtak varga

The Sarvashtak varga including position of planets at birth can be shown in a chart from as under:

4.6.2 Samudaya Ashtakvarga (Sam AV) is a transit specific derivation from the Prashtaraks of the seven planets. It is almost a look alike of the Sarvashtak varga having a total of 337 points, but is Kaksha based in concept and construction. However, it is not the same as SAV and the total points in a sign may or may not be same. The method of constructing Sam AV is as follows.

i) Step 1: Draw a chart similar for SAV indicating Kaksha of all seven planets and signs.

ii) Step 2: The first kaksha of all signs belongs to Saturn. Take the first Kaksha of Aries in all the Prashtaraks given above and note the dots contributed by Saturn carefully. Saturn has contributed four dots in Prashtaraks of Sun, Mars, Mercury & Venus in the first Kaksha of Aries. Hence a figure of `4’ is put in first Kaksha of Aries in Sam AV. Now take the next Kaksha of Saturn in Taurus. Here Saturn has given dots in Prashtaraks of Moon, Jupiter, Venus & Saturn. So put the figure of `4’ in the Kaksha of Saturn under sign Taurus. Similarly do the exercise for remaining first Kaksha of each sign.

iii) Step 3: The 2nd Kaksha of all signs belongs to Jupiter. So, now take the 2nd Kaksha of Aries. The Jupiter has contributed two dots in Prashtaraks of Moon & Jupiter. Hence put the figurer `2’ in 2nd Kaksha of Aries. Now move horizontally to 2nd Kaksha of Taurus. Here Jupiter has contributed dots in Prashtaraks of Moon, Mercury, Jupiter & Venus. So put figure of `4’ in 2nd Kaksha of Jupiter under Taurus. Similarly complete 2nd Kaksha of Jupiter under remaining 10 signs.

iv) Step 4: keep respecting this exercise for all the 96 Kakshas (for 8 sources and 12 signs). We will then get the Sam AV for the native of Chart No. 3 as under;
