He is a millionaire and does not lack for feminine attention he is well versed in the scriptures and is virtuous. At age 15, he acquires immense knowledge and wealth. The person’s studies do not prosper if Mercury is malefic in its influence, is in an inauspicious house, in conjunction with an inauspicious planet or in a hostile space. The person is then cruel and suffers from ailments of the Vatha system. If it is in an auspicious influence the reverse holds true. If Mercury is with Jupiter then the person is an excellent mathematician.
My Thoughts: The ancient writers have ascribed all beneficial properties to masculine signs and influences. Brihadyavanajaatak has referred to wealth gained at the age of 36 and I find this is borne out by own observations too. An unknown writer has said that at the age of 15 wealth and learning are acquired but I do not find this the case. Similarly, Hillajaatak also appears to be wrong. In reality, Mercury has nothing to do with wealth. And in any case, in India writers and those in related professions hardly ever prosper. I find that mercury is in the House of Wealth in the horoscopes of most traders and they do prosper as a result. In the field of education, principals, professors, scientists and directors are paid well so perhaps from this point of view one can say that there is a potential to acquire wealth.
My Experience: Ordinarily Venus and Saturn are the planets, which bring inordinate wealth. Venus governs liquid cash and Saturn governs immovable assets. However, any other planet in the House of Wealth does certainly impact a person’s luck with money. In all signs except Gemini and Cancer, even if the planet ruling the House of Wealth is distorted, Mercury even if in an auspicious influence, the person ends up in dire poverty. If there is a masculine sign in the ascendant and Mercury in the House of Wealth in a feminine sign, and assuming that the planet ruling the House of Wealth is not distorted, then the person gets great wealth and is successful throughout life. His speech is clear and authoritative. His behaviour is not servile. They are intelligent and often good writers. They crave for good food with much variety of taste. They get much fame after death and all this is because of their intellectual prowess. If the planet ruling the House of Wealth is distorted in the influence it casts, the person gets less wealth and few or no children. Though he in not very well read, people tend to view him as a scholar. His life is generally unsuccessful but he gets prestige after death. These people are never worried about the spiritual aspect of life.
Mercury in the Third House

Gunakar: Durjanaha. The person is corrupt by nature.
Kalyanavarma: Shrutinirataha paridinastritiyaraashau budhdhe bhavati jaataha. Nipunaha sahajasameto mayabahulo narashchalitaha. The person is immersed in stud of the scriptures, quiet and sober in temperament, courteous, poor, has many friends, is very charismatic and also very inconsistent.
Baidhyanath: Mayakarmaparostanostichapalo deenosnujasthe budhdhe. The person is charismatic, a traveler, he is shrewd but poor.
Garg: Budhdhescha sahajasthaane drishtibhirvaa vilokite. Bhratrinaam bhaagineenaam cha sukham tasya mahad vadet. Bhraataram pancham vidhyanet shatrudrishtachyaa mritim vadet. Chatastraha panchavaagyeyaaha swasaaraha shubhalakshanaaha. Kunjan Shaninaa drishte taassam vandhyatva-mishyate. Budho va tatra sansthitaha, swasribaahulyantaam tasya kurvanti ba his sanshayaha. Budhau tritaye. Budhashcha shataadhipaha. The person gets great affection from his siblings. He has at least five brothers and five sisters. If Mercury is overlooked by Venus, the person’s brothers die. In case of sisters, their death is caused by the influence of Mars or Saturn. This person has many friends.
