Bhrigu Samhita: Basic Astrology, Part – 7

Continuation…

Dr. Shanker Adawal

The present book is to apprise the reader of certain basic principles and methodology of research done – these can be easily grasped once you have gone thru the multiples of horoscopes analysed in the following chapters.

Retrograde planets:

There have been lot of discussions with respect to these planets and there are astrologers who have come to the conclusion that they have no impact whatsoever. The research and analysis done however shows different results. Without being specific of the findings by other astrologers and with due respect to them, it has been found that retrograde planets do play a very important role.

It has been invariably seen that retrograde planets indicate negative character traits that are carried from past life. Retrograde planets indicate that a person has been given a second chanced to undo things of the previous birth – so to say a probationary period.

Retrograde planets indicate that the person had committed errors in his past life time. In this life the challenges would be greater and these challenges represent energies and opportunities for onward movement.

The more retrograde planets we have in charts, the greater potential is indicated within the individual for the development within this lifetime. Retrograde planets when positive, make the person great and give the energy to do positive things. I have seen this in the charts of some of the top industrialists and politicians.

Example: if you have a retrograde Jupiter in your chart, it is indicative that the native was probably a drunked in his past life, a very biased and prejudiced individual and this tendency would come in this life time too. This would be the inner trait and the character which would drive the native.

Therefore, retrograde planets in the house and sign placed will signify negativity and non-fulfillment of matters related to that sign. On the other hand, if they are well aspected or have powerful planets in conjunction or on either side of them, it will energise these planets and give the person energy to work positively and scale greater heights.

While analyzing the horoscope, it is important to understand the foundation (strength) of the horoscope, the traits of the planet which gives characteristics of a person and the effect of the Karmic planets (previous Karmas) which are evident through the nodes and the retrograde planets. There is lot of discussion on this issue, you would, while reading various horoscopes, see the impact of Rahu/Ketu and the retrograde planets.

Exchange of Planets:

There is an exchange of two planets. This causes yoga of very high degree and can give profound results. While considering exchange of two planets, all the planets falling in between the house through which both planets travel during the exchange, get energized and give results, depending upon the characteristics of the planets in question, the house and the planets in between.

Example: an exchange between Venus and Mars, with Mars in Aries and Venus in Libra, will make a person reach heights in the field of Art, Drama etc. – the results will however be different if during exchange, if it also crosses Saturn or Rahu. In the horoscopes explained, a lot of importance has been given to the exchange of two planets which have great bearing on the destiny of the person.

These are the basics, some important broad principles and the reading of the charts will explain them in details while telling the underlying logic and reason of the event.
