Malefic Mercury causes loss of money, business, troubles in service matters, heart, liver, digestive and circulatory diseases. Accident during journeys and food poisoning.
Before the advent of the period of malefic Mercury (Budha) daily rendering for twenty one days, Sri Vishnu astothara sahasranama (1008 Names of Sri Maha Vishnu) in the morning and before retiring to bed, offering pan (betel leaf and nuts) fruit and incense is recommended as an Astral Spiritual remedy. On the twenty first day five persons should be given food, betel leaves, nuts, fruits and Dakshana (money). During the twenty one day red, black, blue, violet etc. coloured clothes should be avoided. Tulsi leaves or betel leaves be used for pooja (offering in worship) Sprouting green gram be offered as sacrifice (Nivedan) and part given as Prasad to family members and the rest consumed. If possible Sri Satyanarayana Vratha on the twenty first day is all the more best.
Mantra for Mercury-to be chanted 4,000 times.

Preeyangava guleekash yam roopeyna prateemahm budam, sowmyam sowmya goono-peytam tam boodam prana-mahm mya-ham.
I bow down to Buddha, god of the planet Mercury, whose face is like a fragrant globe of the priyangu herb and whose beauty matches that of a lotus flower. He is most gentle, possessing all attractive qualities.
